A blend of McLaren Vale and Barossa Valley fruit, the 2013 Shiraz Ares spent two years in oak prior to bottling. A barrel selection of the winery's best lots, it boasts seductive aromas of baking spices and vanilla, backed by deep, concentrated fruit. It's broad and expansive on the palate but not flabby, the mixed berries and chocolate framed by judicious use of oak. The tannins are ripe and plush, and the berry flavors linger on the finish, turning complex, meaty and savory in the process.
A powerful, bold and broad wine, offering sandalwood, smoke and black licorice aromas that weave in and out of the blackberry, kirsch and plum flavors. For all of the presence, there's also elegance and refinement, with velvety tannins and a long, persistent finish. Drink now through 2030. 655 cases made.
Dark purple. Potent, smoke- and spice-accented aromas of ripe dark fruits, licorice, vanilla and violet. Sweet and expansive on the palate, offering deeply concentrated boysenberry, cassis and floral pastille flavors plus suggestions of five-spice powder and cola. The floral quality repeats strongly on an extremely long, sweet finish framed by harmonious tannins.
