Old vine Cabernet Sauvignon is extremely rare; old vine dry-farmed mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is dang near nonexistent. Planted at 1800 feet up Moon Mountain in Sonoma in the late 1960’s, the head-trained Montecillo vines are nearly 50 years old, and the wine they produce is downright mystical. The wine has a profound, layered and perfumed nose, and palate balances classic Cabernet Sauvignon structure, mountain tannins, and lush textures, culminating in a lengthy, lingering finish. Montecillo is pure, elegant magic, without any tricks. 

Turley's 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Montecillo is a powerful, dense wine that expresses all of the savory intensity that makes wines from this Moon Mountain site so compelling. Gravel, smoke, graphite, menthol, licorice and wild dark cherry all build in the glass. Bold and heady, with tons of mountain character, the Montecillo is shaping up to be a real gem.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Montecillo Vineyard has a medium to deep ruby-purple color. The nose offers cassis, cedar and dried herbs with touches of chocolate and a classy frame of baking spice. The palate is medium to full-bodied with crunchy fruit character and bright freshness, softly framed and finishing juicy.
