Shows nice pitch, with violet and hibiscus hints leading off, followed by a commensurate range of cassis, black cherry and plum puree notes that glide through. There are flashes of savory and iron as well, and the finish shows sleek structure and serious cut. Not as dark and tarry as a typical HM Cabernet -- an intriguing change of pace. Best from 2025 through 2038. 202 cases made.
Deep ruby, the barrel sample of 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Dragon Vineyard is still broody and coiled. It is scented of blackcurrants, underbrush, laurel leaves and cigar ash. The medium-bodied palate is softer and juicier than expected, with earth-laced flavors and an earthy finish.
