The 2020 Small Batch Series Angela Shiraz is made in an aromatic style: it is perfumed and elegant. The fruit is sourced from the southern part of the Vale. In the mouth, the wine sings with blue fruits and vibrancy. It has notes of deli meat, aniseed, blackberry and plush fruit—powerful and neat. This is quite lovely, with coulis and pink peppercorn—moreish.

Modern shiraz from a warm place, albeit riding a sleigh of tension. A clench of reduction bestows floral and iodine scents, evincing an air of somewhere considerably cooler. Boysenberry sweetness across the mid-palate suggests otherwise. Loads of salami smokiness, licorice, lavender, clove and thyme, too. A little drying in the finish, but pretty convincing. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
