From an estate in Canelli that was grandfathered into Barolo production, the Coppo 2020 Barolo shows a lean appearance and a classical style with traditional winemaking that prizes finesse and transparency. This wine feels silky and soft in texture, and you get a pretty interpretation straight out of the gate with cassis, dried violets, bramble or broken twig and sweet almond.
This is lacy and elegant, exhibiting cherry, currant, earth, anise and wild herb flavors. Firms up on the finish, with a base of tannins keeping this grounded. Best from 2027 through 2040. 3,000 cases made, 1,200 cases imported.
