Deep red with lush cherry, black currant, and blackberry aromas with a touch of tar and smoke. The texture is smooth—almost silky—and masks the firm tannic structure that lies below and only appears on the lingering finish.
Spicy and fresh nose with some olives, cassis and a splash of dark chocolate. The medium- to full-bodied palate is laden with powdery tannins before a savory, juicy finish. A tad saline, too. Drink now.
The 2021 Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon was produced with grapes from the Puente Alto and Pirque and has 4% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 1% Syrah and 1% Carmenere blended in. It has 14.5% alcohol, good freshness and integrated oak after 16 months in French barrels and 5,000-liter Italian oak vats from Piamonte. This is again a textbook Cabernet from Maipo, juicy, crunchy, fresh, with the grainy tannins from the variety and the stony soils. There's purity; it's clean and young, a little grapey. 780,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2022.
