So much gunpowder to the lemon rind and cooked apple aromas. Goes flinty. Lemon curd. Some sliced pineapple. Full-bodied with a compacted palate and a glossy texture to it. Very, very creamy. Honey. Candied lemon. Oily, but then goes fresh and zesty. Drinkable now, but will age beautifully.

A stunning white, with nectarine, pineapple and golden kiwifruit notes bursting out of the glass. Details of lemon curd, candied ginger peel, orange blossoms and salted caramel mingle well with the smooth, supple frame. The flavors are generous and intense, but there's an equal delicacy and sense of finesse on the long, expressive finish. Drink now through 2034. 674 cases made.

Recently expanded to 2.5 acres, Sugar Shack is at the Aubert's residence, in the western hills of Rutherford. Planted to a selection from Montrachet and farmed by David Abreu, the 2021 Chardonnay Sugar Shack is a full-bodied, rich, concentrated wine laden with notes of peach and melon. It's opulent and lush but with great length and energy on the finish, plus some complex floral-herbal notes reminiscent of flower-shop greens.
