Highly Rated Red Blend & Rose from Marietta Cellars

For those of you who have been enjoying the Marietta Cellars Riesling and Zinfandel from our previous newsletter, you are in for another treat! We just got another drop of fantastic wines from Marietta, including their OVR Rose 2020 and their Christo Red Blend, both with fantastic ratings from the Wine Advocate.

Marietta Cellars is a family owned operation with over 400 acres of vineyards that they have acquired over the years planted with numerous grape varietals such as Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Syrah, Syrah, Riesling, Grenache and others. We have worked with their OVR Red Blend as a staple here at Varmax for many years now, and are thrilled to have expanded the Marietta lineup to include Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Rose, Riesling and a Red Blend. The wines are just that good!

Marietta Christo Red Blend 2018 - Rated 95 Points by the Wine Advocate - "The 2018 Christo is made up of 60% Syrah, 24% Grenache, 12% Petite Sirah and 4% Viognier. Vibrant ruby-purple in color, the nose offers pure scents of crushed red, black and blue berries, tobacco, violets, tar and smoked meats. The palate is full-bodied and packed full of perfectly ripe, juicy fruit, with a grainy frame and loads of uplift on the finish."

Christo is made in homage to Marietta's founder and first winemaker and is a Rhone varietal blend, deep and powerful for Syrah lovers.

Marietta OVR Rose 2020 - Rated 92 Points by the Wine Advocate - "Medium cherry-pink in color, the 2020 Old Vine Rosé offers fresh berry and melon fruit with notes of baker's yeast, citrus and flowers. The palate is fully fruited and fresh, with a touch of texture anchoring the finish."

The OVR Series is created for everyday enjoyment. These wines are balanced, textured and delicious. This Rose is a 50/50 blend of Syrah and Grenache that aged in neutral oak barrels for 3 months with weekly lees stirring, giving it an excellent texture. It is fresh and vibrant, great on its own or with a meal.
