Yalumba's first vineyards were planted in 1849 and have been fiercly independent and family owned ever since, with the 6th generation of family at the helm today. Showcasing the best of the Barossa Valley and letting the vines lead the way, the philosophy here is to embrace the unknown and have a genuine respect for the land. 

Along with their many wines, Yalumba also has its own cooperage, making their own oak barrels, the only winery to do so in the Southern Hemisphere. Focusing mostly on Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz and blends thereof, Australia is able to make world class wines that are unique to those from other parts of the world. Yalumba has chosen to have no set formula for their wines, letting the blends and proportions of grapes in all of their wines change to make the best wines in each vintage. Dedicated to reducing their impact on the environment, Yalumba has the largest solar system of any Australian winery and win many awards for their sustainable practices. 

Today, Yalumba makes wines in all price points from today's featured wine at an amazing value price of $10.99 all the way up to wines that sell for several hundreds of dollars. 

At Yalumba the belief is that one good wine leads to another. The Y Series was created with that belief in mind. The Y Series represents a collection of iconic classics and exciting new varietals. Each authentically crafted with fruit from South Australia’s most celebrated wine regions. The label on the Y Series Shiraz pays homage to the winery's own cooperage, of which they are rightly very proud. Look for bright and juicy ripe fruit notes with a hint of spice and smooth tannins on the finish.
